What to visit in the municipality of Caldes d’Estrac
From COOLTUR Cultural Tourism we make you an extensive proposal about what to visit in the municipality of Caldes d’Estrac, a town located in the central Catalan coast. Through our proposal you will be able to discover this municipality of the Maresme region!
Caldes d’Estrac, also known by the diminutive name of Caldetes, is a small municipality located in the Maresme region, right next to the central Catalan coast.
Remains of the town have been found in this municipality since the Neolithic period, but it was not until 1042 that the name Caldes appeared in the documentation that has been preserved. It can therefore be said that it was not until 1715 that Caldes d’Estrac was considered an independent municipality.
One of the curiosities of Caldes d’Estrac is that thermal water springs up in this municipality. In fact, the curative qualities of this water, which comes out at 39 degrees centigrade, have been known and used since the 13th century. Moreover, there is still a spa, publicly owned, which dates back to the 19th century.
Throughout the municipality we can see heritage remains from different periods. One of the most striking are the watchtowers that can be found throughout the municipality. These towers served to protect Caldes d’Estrac from possible attacks by corsairs.
There are also a large number of buildings in the Modernist, Noucentista, Eclectic and Neoclassical styles. These buildings were built during the 19th and 20th centuries as second homes for families who wanted to spend their holidays by the coast.
From COOLTUR Turismo Cultural we encourage you to visit Caldes d’Estrac and to discover its most outstanding elements.
