The Tanneries Quarter is located next to the Montcada Promenade, right next to the river Mèder.
The Tanneries district is one of the most emblematic districts of the city of Vic, both for its historical character and for the tanning tradition of the city.
This district used the water of the river Mèder for the production of skins. The water of this river was channeled towards the industries.
Nowadays, the old tanneries in this neighbourhood are in a very bad structural state. However, the Vic Town Council is trying to maintain this neighbourhood and consolidate some of the old tanneries.
