The Public Laundry room is located in the municipality of Prats de Lluçanès, next to the Merdinyol torrent.

Between the 19th and 20th centuries, public laundries were built in different Catalan towns. These facilities were used by the different families to wash their clothes. It should be said, therefore, that these facilities fell into disuse with the introduction of washing machines.

The Prats de Lluçanès laundry room is a modernist building, built in 1911, and designed by Alexandre Soler i March, a disciple of the famous Lluís Domènech i Muntaner. It is a rectangular building that takes advantage of the waters of the Merdinyol torrent. This building has large openings crowned with semicircular arches. All these openings have been built with visible work, and allowed to evacuate the humidity of this building.

Inside the laundry room, we can still see the large swimming pool that was used to wash clothes. A curiosity of the interior of this building is the south-west corner. In this corner, we can observe two seals of quality of the bricks of the construction.

Apart from the large pool, which is inside the building, outside we can see a smaller pool. This outdoor pool was reserved for washing the clothes of people who were sick. In this way, we wanted to avoid contagion with the rest of the inhabitants.
