The Peixateria is one of the most emblematic buildings in Mataró. This building is located in the Peixateria Square, in the urban centre of Mataró, in the Maresme region.
This building was constructed in 1841 by order of the architect Miquel Garriga Roca, and was built to become the fish market.
What is most striking about this building are the six Doric columns at the entrance. The crowning of the façade we can see different sculptures that reflect marine themes, such as harpoons and seashells that surround the coat of arms of Mataró.
