The archaeological remains of the Roman Baths of Can Xammar are located in Can Xammar square, in the urban centre of Mataró, in the Maresme region.
These remains are part of the Roman city of Mataró, known as Iluro. These thermal baths were discovered in 1964, although four years later a large part of these Roman baths were destroyed.
Different archaeological excavations of these ancient Roman baths have been carried out, and nowadays, the preserved remains are restored. Through the different excavations, it has been possible to determine that these thermal baths were built at the end of the first century BC, although they were modified during the second century AD. Among their remains, among other things, a bust of Venus was discovered, as well as remains of other parts of the body, which can now be seen in the Museum of Mataró.
