Vilassar de Mar is a municipality located next to Barcelona, in the Maresme region.
Originally, Vilassar de Mar was the fishermen’s neighbourhood of Vilassar de Dalt. It was not until 1784 that Vilassar de Mar became an independent municipality.
Although Vilassar de Mar does not have a large municipal area, in this municipality you can find natural places of great beauty. In fact, in Vilassar de Mar there are some of the quietest and most family-friendly beaches in Catalonia!
But you can also find a great number of heritage elements of incalculable value!
Elvira Ferrés House
On the seafront, in the town centre of Vilassar de Mar, specifically at Sant Pau Street, 17, you can see a modernist style building, the Elvira Ferrés House.
The Elvira Ferrés House was designed by the local architect Eduard Ferrés Puig. In fact, this house consists of a ground floor, two upper floors and a roof terrace.
What is most striking about the Elvira Ferrés House is the use of decorative terracotta that adorns this building. This decoration can be seen, above all, in the garlands that outline the upper floor of the building. These garlands are of a linear type, avoiding curved lines.
In addition, at the entrance to the Elvira Ferrés House there is a wrought-iron gate with a stepped crown.
