Vilassar de Mar is a municipality located next to Barcelona, in the Maresme region.
Originally, Vilassar de Mar was the fishermen’s neighbourhood of Vilassar de Dalt. It was not until 1784 that Vilassar de Mar became an independent municipality.
Although Vilassar de Mar does not have a large municipal area, in this municipality you can find natural places of great beauty. In fact, in Vilassar de Mar there are some of the quietest and most family-friendly beaches in Catalonia!

Curation Centre
The Curation Centre is a building located at Maria Vidal Street, 48, in the centre of Vilassar de Mar.
The Curation Centre is a building that was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century. The architect in charge of designing this building was MateuCisa Martí. In 1920, Maria Vidal Casacuberta gave this building to serve the people of Vilassar de Mar.
The Curation Centre is a symmetrical building with respect to the main entrance. There is a staircase to access it. The central body of this building has a ground floor and a first floor, while the side bodies have a ground floor and a basement. The horizontality of the Curation Centre is broken by the two small octagonal pavilions that flank the main entrance.
All the openings of the Curation Centre are decorated with exposed brickwork on the upper part. The roofs are covered by a wall finished with curved lines. In addition, the entire Curation Centre is surrounded by a large garden.
