The Call Street is located next to the Sant Jaume Square, in the Ciutat Vella district, in the historical centre of the city of Barcelona.
At number 5 of the Call Street we can still see the remains of the old Roman wall of the city of Barcelona. These remains correspond to the wall of the 4th century AD. We can see, in the facade of the current building, part of the round passage of the old Roman wall.
The Roman wall of Barcelona had a height of about 10 meters, and a moat that was between 5 and 10 meters deep. The moat is where the city’s sewers flowed into. In addition, between the moat and the wall there was a sentry walk.
