Church of Santa Susanna del Mercadal of Girona

The church of Santa Susanna del Mercadal of Girona is a church located in the Santa Susanna Square, next to the historic centre of Girona.

This is a church of Gothic origin, built between the 14th and 15th centuries, consisting of a nave with a five-sided polygonal apse. The church of Santa Susanna del Mercadal of Girona was renovated between 1901 and 1923. This renovation, however, did not last long, as in 1936, in the midst of the Spanish Civil War; almost all of it was demolished.

Once the Spanish Civil War was over, the church was rebuilt in 1940. Since then, the church of Santa Susanna del Mercadal of Girona has been refurbished on several occasions.

On the main façade we can see the entrance door, which has a pointed arch. The tympanum of the door is decorated. Above it is a large rose window. Attached to the façade, there is a large bell tower crowned with wrought iron crosses.
