Church of Sant Genís de Taradell
The church of Sant Genís de Taradell is located in Església Street, in the centre of Taradell.
The first preserved records of the church of Sant Genís de Taradell date back to the year 950. It can be said, therefore, that this church was renovated and consecrated again during the 11th century.
Of this Romanesque building, only the bell tower remains. This bell tower consists of a ground floor and four upper floors, decorated in the Lombard style. In addition, on the different floors we can see semicircular arched windows, twinned windows and trigemented windows.

Despite these Romanesque remains, the current building of the church of Sant Genís de Taradell dates from the 18th century. In 1755 work began on the construction of the new building, which was finished and blessed in 1763. It is a church with a single nave and eight side chapels.

One of the most characteristic elements of this Baroque building is its façade. On this façade, we can see the entrance door, with a carpanel arch, which is framed by a large stone wall. Above the door, there is also a niche with an image.
Above the entrance door there is a large rose window that illuminates the interior of the building, and a sgraffito decoration can still be seen on the façade!

Taradell is a municipality located between the confluence of the Plana de Vic, the Montseny and the natural park of the Guilleries – Savassona, in the region of Osona. To reach this municipality you can use the C-25, BV-5305, BV-5306 and B-520 roads.
You can also reach this municipality by public transport. In this case, we recommend that you check the bus timetables before setting off on your journey!
