Cemetery of Vilassar de Mar

The Cemetery of Vilassar de Mar is located on Montevideo Avenue, on the outskirts of the town centre of Vilassar de Mar.

The entrance gate of the Cemetery of Vilassar de Mar was designed and built by the municipal architect Eduard Ferrés Puig in 1908.

This large modernist gate consists of a wrought-iron gate flanked by two stone pillars. The wrought-iron decoration consists of abstract forms, spirals, and organic elements, which are arranged vertically. In the centre of the gate is a metal plate with an allegorical representation of Vilassar. This forging was the work of Joan Casanovas Casanovas.

The gate is flanked by two triangular-section pillars. On one of the pillars there is a maiden in relief in three different positions. Above these maidens is a wrought-iron cross. The other pillar has high reliefs and an inscription with the name of the architect.
