Orís is a municipality located in the northern sector of the Plana de Vic, in the county of Osona.
This municipality is characterised by having a large part of its population scattered throughout the municipality. However, in this village we can also find old factory colonies, such as La Mambla or El Pelut.
In Orís you can enjoy nature, but you can also find a large number of very rich heritage elements.
Castle of Orís
The Castle of Orís is located to the south of the church of Sant Genís of Orís, within the municipality of Orís.
The first documentary mention of the castle of Orís dates back to the year 914. Since its creation, this castle has been extended on several occasions. In fact, although it is in ruins, some remains from the 14th and 15th centuries can still be seen.

During the First Carlist War (1833-1840), the castle of Orís was exploited. Despite the destruction caused, during the Second Carlist War (1846-1849), an optical telegraph tower was installed in the castle. This tower formed part of the military communication line between Manresa – Vic – Girona.
Apart from the military remains, the remains of the old chapel of Saint Peter, dating from the 12th century, can also be seen here.

Between 2002 and 2006, several archaeological excavation campaigns were carried out in this castle. Thanks to these archaeological works, it was possible to document all the preserved remains of the castle of Orís.

How to get to Orís
Orís is a municipality located to the north of the Plana de Vic, in the county of Osona. To get to this municipality you can use the C-17 and/or BV-5229 roads.
You can also reach this municipality by public transport. In this case, we recommend that you check the bus timetables before setting off on your journey!
