Vilassar de Mar is a municipality located next to Barcelona, in the Maresme region.
Originally, Vilassar de Mar was the fishermen’s neighbourhood of Vilassar de Dalt. It was not until 1784 that Vilassar de Mar became an independent municipality.
Although Vilassar de Mar does not have a large municipal area, in this municipality you can find natural places of great beauty. In fact, in Vilassar de Mar there are some of the quietest and most family-friendly beaches in Catalonia!
But you can also find a great number of heritage elements of incalculable value!
Can Nadal Tower
The Can Nadal Tower is located in Pau Vila Square, in the centre of Vilassar de Mar.
This tower was possibly built between the 15th and 16th centuries, delimiting the walled centre of Vilassar de Mar.
The Can Nadal Tower has a circular floor plan and is made up of a ground floor and three upper floors. This tower communicates directly with the house of Can Nadal through a small bridge at the height of the first floor.
The Can Nadal Tower still preserves some loopholes and a Gothic window. In addition, the crown of the tower still preserves the corsair.
