Vilassar de Mar is a municipality located next to Barcelona, in the Maresme region.
Originally, Vilassar de Mar was the fishermen’s neighbourhood of Vilassar de Dalt. It was not until 1784 that Vilassar de Mar became an independent municipality.
Although Vilassar de Mar does not have a large municipal area, in this municipality you can find natural places of great beauty. In fact, in Vilassar de Mar there are some of the quietest and most family-friendly beaches in Catalonia!
But you can also find a great number of heritage elements of incalculable value!
Can Cabot
Can Cabot is an old farmhouse located in Arquitecte Eduard Ferrés Avenue, in the centre of Vilassar de Mar.
The origins of Can Cabot date back to the 18th century, although the building has been renovated on several occasions. The last reformation dates back to 1943, and the architect in charge of reforming Can Cabot was Miquel Brullet Monmany.
Can Cabot is a country house with a ground floor, a first floor and an attic. One of the most outstanding elements of this farmhouse are the three large balconies on the first floor.
However, the most characteristic part of Can Cabot is the historicist Baroque ornamentation of the entire façade. This decoration is made with sgraffito. The sundial and the ornaments are also worth mentioning. Another characteristic element is the crowning of the façade, formed by concave and convex lines.
Apart from these elements, the decoration of all the railings of this building is also noteworthy.
