If you don’t know what to do in Vilassar de Mar, and you want to discover this town, from COOLTUR Cultural Tourism we recommend you to visit Cal Harinas!
Vilassar de Mar is a municipality located next to Barcelona, in the Maresme region.
Originally, Vilassar de Mar was the fishermen’s neighbourhood of Vilassar de Dalt. It was not until 1784 that Vilassar de Mar became an independent municipality.
Although Vilassar de Mar does not have a large municipal area, in this municipality you can find natural places of great beauty. In fact, in Vilassar de Mar there are some of the quietest and most family-friendly beaches in Catalonia!
But you can also find a great number of heritage elements of incalculable value!
Cal Harinas
Cal Harinas is a house located at Montserrat Street, 33, in the centre of Vilassar de Mar.
Cal Harinas, which has a marked eclectic style, consists of a ground floor and two upper floors. The most interesting part of this building is the ornamentation of the main façade. All along the façade, one can see sgraffito work made up of circles with lines, as well as floral garlands framing the windows on the upper floor.
Another striking feature of Cal Harinas is the large overhang on the roof, which is formed by large, staggered corbels. These corbels, which are made with exposed brickwork, have a ceramic flower in between. Above the cornice are battlements decorated with ceramic dots.
