Andreu Guri Sala Sepulchre
The cemetery of Arenys de Mar is located in the Salvador Espriu Square, right next to the town centre of Arenys de Mar. Its interior houses a large number of artistic sepulchral elements. Among others, the Andreu Guri Sala Sepulchre is worth mentioning.
Andreu Guri Sala was an important industrialist from Arenys de Mar. This man lived between 1824 and 1908. On his death, an impressive sepulchre was erected, the Andreu Guri Sala Sepulchre. This tomb, in the modernist style, was designed and built by the Ventura brothers. They were marble workers specialising in funerary sculpture.
The Andreu Guri Sala Sepulchre is an elongated tomb. In the centre of the tomb there is a sculptural group consisting of an angel, holding a child in his arms, and a girl next to him. These sculptures stand on a highly ornamented pedestal. On either side of this sculpture are two sarcophagi covered with cloth and flowers.
